Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is inviting residents to its free Digital Inclusion Fair on Monday 19 October as part of Get Online Week.
Taking place from 11am to 2pm at Epsom Methodist Church, the event will give residents the opportunity to speak directly with local organisations and receive free, practical advice and guidance on a range of topics. These include the NHS App, digital skills, online safety, accessibility support, online job searching, mobile phones use and more.
The event is open to everyone, particularly those who may have limited digital skills, lack confidence using online services, or would benefit from face-to-face support and advice.
Attendees can also find out about Tech Angels, which enables eligible residents to borrow smartphones and tablets. They can register their interest on the day.
Organisations attending the Digital Inclusion Fair include Barclays Bank, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), Epsom & Ewell Hub, Epsom & Ewell libraries, Mary Frances Trust, NHS, Sight for Surrey, Surrey Trading Standards, Surrey Police and Tech Angels, with additional organisations to be confirmed.
Councillor Clive Woodbridge, Chair of the Community and Wellbeing Committee said:
Digital services play an increasingly important role in everyday life, from accessing healthcare and managing finances to finding employment opportunities and staying connected with family, friends and local services.
We know that some residents may lack the confidence, skills or access needed to make the most of these services. Our Digital Inclusion Fair provides a welcoming opportunity to meet local organisations, ask questions and receive free, practical support tailored to individual needs.
We encourage anyone who feels they could benefit, or who knows someone who might, to come along and find out more.
The Digital Inclusion Fair supports the council's Health & Wellbeing Strategy by providing opportunities for residents to build the skills and confidence needed to access services, information and opportunities online.
Residents are encouraged to share details of the event with friends, family and neighbours who may benefit from attending.
